Trying for its third straight win, the Fordham volleyball team had a rough go at Seton Hall on Tuesday night, falling in three sets to the Pirates in South Orange, N.J. Final set scores were 25-23, 25-14, and 25-17.
With the loss, Fordham is now 8-8 on the season, while Seton Hall improved to 5-10.
Set one saw the score tied at 22, before Seton Hall finished the set with a 3-1 spurt to win the opening stanza.
Seton Hall took control of the second set, at 15-13, where the Pirates reeled off a 10-1 run to pull ahead two sets to none. Fordham could not get anything started offensively, posting 10 attack errors in the set.
Fordham continued to struggle in the final set, falling by eight, as the Rams totaled 24 attack errors in the match, en route to a .066 team hitting percentage.
For Fordham, Kailee May had 10 kills and six digs, while Christi Griffiths finished with seven kills. Mary Diamantidis dished out 27 assists to go with five digs in the match, with Chelsea Moore adding 11 digs, defensively.
Fordham will now turn to conference play this weekend, as the Rams host La Salle on Friday, September 24th at 7:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym, while taking on Temple on Saturday, September 25th at 7:00 PM.
