The Fordham water polo team entered day two of the ECAC Championship with the goal of finishing higher than it was seeded. The Rams will have that chance, as after a split of matches today, Fordham will meet Johns Hopkins for the third time this season in the fifth place game of the ECAC Championship.
Fordham opened winner's bracket play against 13th-ranked St. Francis College, falling to the Terriers by a 17-9 count.
Ali Arat and Cashel Barnett led the offense with two goals apiece, while Christian Flessner made nine saves in net.
In the seoncd game of the day, Fordham rebounded with an 8-7 win over MIT, as the Rams never trailed in the match.
Arat, Daniel Muñoz, and Ben Clinkinbeard each netted a pair of goals with Mikey Edwards and Victor Bautista Medina rounding out the scoring. Flessner posted six saves in goal.
Fordham will now conclude play at the 2010 ECAC Championship with a 1:00 PM contest against Johns Hopkins in the fifth place match on Sunday.
