Seeded sixth at the 2010 ECAC Championship, the Fordham water polo team opened with a 5-4 overtime win over Mercyhurst College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, behind a game-winning goal from Ali Arat.
With the win, Fordham improves to 6-5 on the season.
Fordham got goals from Ryan Hultman, Jakob Muller, Daniel Barron, and Victor Bautista Medina in regulation with Arat netting the lone goal overtime.
Christian Flessner made the start in net for the Rams, making a season-high 10 saves.
The Rams move on in the ECAC Championship to face third-seeded and 13th-ranked St. Francis College on Saturday, September 18th at 11:40 AM
