Princeton, N.J. -
Last week at the Navy Open, the Fordham water polo team split its matches with George Washington and Johns Hopkins. Today at the Princeton Invitational, the Rams came away with two wins, defeating George Washington, 8-6, and Johns Hopkins, 8-5.
With the two wins, Fordham improves to 4-5 on the season.
Fordham led throughout during both games. In the first match-up, the Rams got three goals apiece from Ali Arat and Mikey Edwards to defeat the George Washington Colonials, 8-6.
Daniel Barron and Ryan Hultman tallied the final two goals for Fordham with Hultman adding two steals. Christian Flessner made the start in net, making five stops.
In game two, Fordham avenged last week's loss to Johns Hopkins with an 8-5 win over the Blue Jays, who were receiving votes in the national water polo poll.
Hultman and Arat each scored twice to lead the Fordham attack, while Ricky Dilday, Jake Bakas, Edwards, and Jakob Muller each had one marker. Flessner made seven saves in the win.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Wednesday, September 15th, as it opens conference play against Queens College at 8:00 PM. The game will be at Fordham's Colonel Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center, which is a change from the original schedule.
