Box Score

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Fordham University men's soccer team found out on Sunday that it's not how many shots you take, it's how many you put in the net as the Rams outshot the University of Cincinnati 13-5 but Fordham couldn't get one across the line as the Bearcats defeated the Rams, 1-0, at Gettler Stadium.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 1-3-0 while Cincinnati improves to 2-0-2.

Cincinnati scored the game's lone goal early in the match as Shamar Shelton and Matt Bahner executed a give and go and Bahner beat Fordham keeper Ryan Meara with a shot low to the near post in the fifth minute. It was the third tally of the year for Bahner.

Of the 13 Fordham shots, seven were on goal, but the Rams were unable to beat the Cincinnati defense, which has allowed just one goal thus far in 2010. Bearcat keeper Matt Williams made a big save on Fordham's best chance in the final minutes of the match as Julian Nagel won a ball in the box following a long throw-in. Nagel's left-footed shot was denied by Williams with 15 seconds to play.

Nagel led the Rams with five shots, three on goal, while Marcus Axelsson added two shots on net.

Meara finished with two saves in net for the Rams while Williams made seven in the Cincinnati net.

The Rams will next be in action on Wednesday night, September 15th, as they host the Columbia University Lions on Jack Coffey Field at 7:00 PM.
