After leading his Korean team, Mobis Phoebus, to the 2010 Korean League championship and earning Player of the Year and Center of the Year honors, former Fordham University forward Bryant Dunston is bringing his talents to Greece. It was announced on July 27th that Dunston has signed a one-year contract to play for Aris Thessaloniki of the Greece A-1 Professional Basketball League. Aris BC is one of the most successful Greek basketball clubs of all time, tallying 10 Greek Championships, 8 Greek cups, and 3 European titles.
In 2009-10, Dunston led his Mobis Phoebus team to the Korean League championship as they defeated KCC Egis, 97-59, on April 11th to win the championship series, 4-2. Dunston led the team in the final game, scoring a game-high 37 points and adding 13 rebounds and four blocks.
After leading Mobis Phoebus to a 40-14 regular season record, tying the squad with Sonic Boom KT for the regular season title and receiving a first round playoff bye, Mobis Phoebus opened the 2010 playoffs with a three games to one win over Dongbu Promy and then faced off with KCC Egis in the finals. Mobis Phoebus opened the finals with a 91-86 win and then took the second game, 83-77, a game in which Dunston blocked five shots. KCC Egis rallied to take game three, 89-78, with Dunston scoring ten points and adding seven rebounds, before Dunston recorded a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds in game five, leading Mobis Phoebus to a 90-87 win and a 3-1 lead in the series.
Dunston followed the 22-point game with a 21-point performance in game five but KCC Egis was able to pull out a 69-65 win to send the series to a game six where Dunston exploded, hitting 15 of his 20 field goal attempts, scoring the 37 points in just 24 minutes.
In the finals, Dunston averaged 17.8 ppg and 7.8 rpg while blocking 15 shots (2.5/game) and shooting 69.1% (38-55) from the field.
On the year, his second with Mobis Phoebus, Dunston averaged 15.3 ppg and a team-high 8.2 rpg along with 149 blocks, shooting 64.7% (383-592) from the field and recording 22 double-doubles. He led the Korean League in bocks per game (2.3) and was seventh in league in rebounding.
A 2008 Fordham graduate, Dunston was a United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District II selection as well as Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and First Team NABC All-District in his senior season.
A four-year starter, Dunston appeared in all 120 career games, starting 118, amassing 1,832 career points, good for second place on the Fordham all-time scoring list. He also pulled down 993 career rebounds, good for third all-time at Rose Hill, and blocked a school record 294 shots in his four years at Rose Hill.
Dunston, who was named to the 2008 Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team, recorded an Atlantic 10-best 15 doubles-doubles in 2007-08, including eight in the last ten games of the year, to bring his career double-double total to 40.
Dunston, the 2005 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the year, has received All-Atlantic 10 accolades all four years at Fordham, earning First Team honors as a sophomore in 2005-06 and Second Team honors in 2004-05 and in 2006-07.
