Bronx, N.Y. - After two goals in the first 1:13 of the game, it took another 104 minutes to find the game-winner in the soccer match-up between Fordham and Manhattan. The two crosstown rivals played even at 1-1 until the 105th minute, when Fordham's Mariella Romano headed in a cross from Katie McDermott to give the Rams a 2-1 overtime win over the Jaspers at Jack Coffey Field.

With the win, Fordham improves to 3-0-0 on the year, while Manhattan moves to 1-1-0. It is ony the second time, the first time since 2004, that Fordham has started a season with three straight wins.

It took little time, just 1:02 into the game, to get the first goal. Fordham's Michelle Ancelj went wide down the left side of the box, and crossed the ball back in to Danielle Ingram, who deflected the ball inside the right post for her first goal of the season.

Manhattan tied the game at one right away, as 11 seconds later, Caroline Morse picked up the ball off a deflection, moved around a Fordham defender, and scored from 22 yards out on a bending shot inside the right post for her first of the season.

Rachel Suther makes a diving stop in the second half, keeping the score even at one.

The score remained tied heading into the second half, when Manhattan almost took the lead in the 54th minute. Allison Pfeiffer got loose from a Fordham player on the right side for a shot, but Fordham goalkeeper Rachel Suther made a diving save to her left to keep the game even.

Fordham also kept the pressure on the Manhattan goalkeeper Kara Davis, peppering her with shots, as Davis finished the contest with 11 saves on 21 Fordham shots.

The game-winner, however, Davis was unable to stop. Following a handball call, Fordham's McDermott took the indirect kick from the right side, 21 yards out. Her cross found Romano's head into front, heading in the game-winning goal at the 104:14 mark. It was her first goal of the season.

Suther finished with four saves for Fordham, registering her third win of the season.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, September 3rd, when the Rams open play at the Hofstra Invitational. The Rams will match-up with St. John's at 4:30 PM, and then meet host Hofstra on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
