Bronx, N.Y. - Behind superb pitching from the trio of Brian Pendergast, Rich Anastasi, and Daniel Munday, the Fordham baseball team posted their first win of the season on Friday, a 1-0 shutout of New York Tech in 11 innings at Houlihan Park.

With the win, Fordham improves to 1-6 overall, while New York Tech is 0-1.

The game was a pitcher's duel as both pitching staffs clouded the Houlihan Park scoreboard with zeroes throughout the afternoon.

It wasn't until the bottom of the 11th inning, when Ryan Maghini plated Ryan McCrann with a sacrifice fly to center for the only marker of the game.

McCrann led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a single to center, followed by a single to right by Mike Mobbs. After a fielder's choice by Ryan David, put runners at first and third, David stole second to avoid the threat of a double play. Maghini then lifted a fly ball to center, which McCrann tagged up on and scored the only run of the game.

The game was highlighted by the pitching of both staffs, as Fordham allowed only one Bears' runner to reach third base in the game, while New York Tech allowed only three Rams to third.

Mike Mobbs had three hits on the afternoon.

Fordham's Brian Pendergast had his best performance as a Ram this season, throwing eight innings of two-hit ball with eight strikeouts and no walks. Rich Anastasi came on for two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just two hits, while Daniel Munday (1-1) recording the win with a hitless inning of relief in the 11th.

The Bears had a total of six pitchers throw in the game with Greg Sinacori (0-1) taking the loss in relief. He gave up the lone run of the game on two hits in 2/3 of an inning pitched.

Offensively, Fordham put together 10 hits in the game, led by Mike Mobbs, who was 3-for-5 with a triple and two singles, while Chris Walker and Brian Kownacki each had a pair of hits.

Due to field conditions at George Mason, Fordham will meet New York Tech again on Saturday, March 6th, beginning at 1:00 PM at Houlihan Park. The Rams will then head down to George Mason for a Sunday doubleheader on March 7th, beginning at 11:00 AM.
