New Haven, Conn. - After falling 5-4 to Lafayette in the opening round of the 2010 Men's College Squash Association National Team Championships, the Fordham squad rebounded to upend the College of Charleston, 7-2, to advance to the consolation finals in the Hawthorn Division.
The Rams took the College of Charleston match by winning at the third through ninth positions, all by scores of 3-0.
Eli Plangger got things going for Fordham by winning at the third spot over Cameron Davis (11-4, 11-4, 11-5) while James Lechleitner took the fourth position from Peter Corbett by scores of 11-6, 11-7 and 11-4.
Ken Fukumoto was victorious at the fifth position (11-3, 11-3, 11-6) while Andrew Grosner won at the sixth postion by scores of 11-4, 11-2 and 11-3. Nick Reed upended Allie Boynton at the seventh spot (11-0,11-5, 11-1) while Chris Souther (16-14, 11-8, 11-8) and Andrew Craig (11-6, 11-6, 11-6) won at the eighth and ninth positions, respectively.
The Rams will now take on Bucknell University on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m in the consolation finals of the Hawthorn Division at the CSA National Team Championships.
