The Fordham swimming & diving teams resumed their schedule this afternoon against the Boston University Terriers at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center on Saturday. The Rams came up on the short end of both competitions, as the men lost 186.5-107.5, while the women fell by a 174-126 score.
The two losses even the team's record at 1-1 on the season.
The Rams posted a total of seven event wins, six of which came on the women's side. Fordham opened the afternoon with a win in the 200 medley relay, as Brienne Ryan, Courtney Collyer, Kelly Bunster, and Kellie Lyver posted a time of 1:46.13.
Ryan later had two individual events wins in both the 100 freestyle (52.12) and 200 freestyle (1:53.24), as did Christina Cosentino, who won both the 100 (58.53) and 200 (2:06.11) backstroke events.
The day also ended with a relay win, as Lyver, Bunster, Alexandra Wessel, and Ryan, edged out Boston University by one one-hundredth of a second to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:31.48.
On the men's side, Shintaro Noguchi was the lone event winner, taking home the 200 freestyle event in 1:44.42. Noguchi also placed second in the 100 butterfly in 51.57 seconds.
Collyer and Thomas Yi also had a strong day, as each finished second in three separate events. Collyer was second in the 200 butterfly (2:03.94), the 200 breaststroke (2:24.42), and the 200 individual medley (2:10.18), while Yi was second in the 200 freestyle (1:45.63), 200 backstroke (1:54.50), and 200 individual medley (2:00.35).
The Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on November 19-21, when the teams compete at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J.
