Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham Rams got career-high performances from both Kailee May and Brittany Daulton, but it still wasn't enough, as the Rams were edged out by the George Washington Colonials in five sets at the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday night. Final set scores were 24-26, 25-18, 22-25, 29-27, and 17-15.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 12-11 overall, 3-3 in the Atlantic 10, while George Washington moves to 15-7 on the year, 4-1 in the league.

The seesaw affair began with the Colonials jumping out to an 8-1 lead in set one, with Fordham responding with an 8-1 spurt of their own to knot the score at nine. The set was tied on ten occasions, the last at 24 all, before Fordham closed out the set at 26-24 on kills by Kailee May and Brittany Daulton.

Set two saw the Colonials storm back to knot the match at one set each. Katie Crosby had four kills and five digs in the set to lead George Washington to a 25-18 win.

The third set saw Fordham surge ahead as the Rams led for the majority of the set, earning a 25-22 win on a kill by Daulton.

Fordham almost put away the match in set four at 26-25, following kills by Katie Wells and May. Lauren Whyte however responded with back-to-back kilsl to get the Colonials set point at 27-26. After a pair of side outs, Katie Crosby and Alex Coward blocked a May attempt for a 29-27 win, forcing a deciding set.

Set five saw the Colonials lead by as many as six, 12-6, but Fordham would not go away, scoring six straight points to knot the score at 12, two of which were on aces from Maria Rodenberg and two on kills from May. After a pair of side outs, Fordham earned match points at both 14-13 and 15-14, but could not come up with either, as May's serve at 15-14 just hooked wide of the sideline, tying the score again. George Washington's Katie Zulandt made the Rams regret that error, posting a kill and a block for the final two points of the match, and giving the Colonials the win.
