The Fordham water polo team continued their west coast trip on Friday with two matches at the Claremont Convergence Tournament, which began with a 10-8 win over 16th-ranked Concordia University (Calif.).
With the split, Fordham is 10-11 on the year.
In its first match of the day, the Fordham Rams knocked off 16th-ranked Concordia University of California, 10-8.
After going down 2-0 in the first quarter, Fordham stormed back with three straight tallies to end the period up, 3-2.
Fordham held that one-goal lead into halftime at 5-4, and then increased the lead to two, 8-6 by the end of the third quarter.
The Rams netted two more goals in the fourth, en route to a 10-8 victory over the 16th-ranked Eagles.
For Fordham, Alex Powell led the Fordham attack with four goals with Mikey Edwards and Ali Arat added two goals apiece. Ricky Dilday and Victor Bautista Medina rounded out the Fordham goal scorers.
In net, Christian Flessner made eight saves in the win.
In match two, the Rams put together a good effort behind 11 saves from Flessner, but fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 9-5.
Arat and Edwards led the attack with two goals each with Dilday adding the final marker.
The Fordham water polo team will wrap its California trip on Saturday, October 9th, when they finsih play at the Claremont Convergence Tournament. Fordham will face Air Force at 2:40 PM Eastern and La Verne at 8:00 PM.
