Bronx, N.Y. - Led by Kailee May's double-double, the Fordham volleyball opened a four-match homestand with a come from behind, five-set victory over the Hofstra Pride at the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday night. Final set scores were 21-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, and 15-12.

With the win, Fordham improves to 11-10 overall, while Hofstra falls to 6-16. The win by the Rams was also just the second over Hofstra since the 1997 season.

The opening set saw Fordham jump out to a 7-1 lead, but the Pride rallied back to knot the score at 17 all. The Pride then grabbed the lead and eventually scored the final two points of the set on a pair of Carolyn Jenkins' blocks to take the set, 25-21.

The Rams stormed back in set two, hitting .333 as a team, to earn a four-point win and even the match at one set apiece.

In set three with the score at 12 all, Hofstra used two kills from Marina Markovic to take a 15-12 lead. Fordham pulled to within one point at 21-20 on a kill by Katie Wells, but Hofstra would not relinquish the lead, taking the third set, 25-21.

Set four saw the score tied at 16, when the Rams got a block and two Hofstra errors to go ahead by three, 19-16. The Rams were then able to side out all the way to the end, winning the set by the same score as the first three sets, 25-21, to force a fifth and deciding set.

The seesaw affair came down the final few points, as the Rams and Pride were tied at 12 all with Hofstra serving. Christi Griffiths knocked down a kill to put Fordham back in front with Kim Capicotto substituting into the game to serve. Off of Capicotto's serves, Fordham rallied for a kill by Kailee May and received a solo block from Randi Ewing to cap the come from behind win for the Rams.

For Fordham, May finished with 18 kills, 13 digs, four aces, and three blocks, while Griffiths added 11 kills, five blocks, and two aces. Wells chipped in eight kills with Ewing adding six kills and three blocks. Mary Diamantidis dished out 43 assists in the win to go with three blocks, while Maria Rodenberg and Emily Atwood each had nine digs, defensively.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Friday, October 8th, when the Rams host Atlantic 10 opponent, Charlotte, beginning at 7:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
