Cincinnati, Ohio - After a tough loss on Friday night, the Fordham women's soccer team bounced back on Sunday with a 1-0 win against Xavier on a game-winning goal from Mary Solimine at the XU Soccer Complex.

With the win, Fordham moves to 5-7-0 overall, 1-1-0 in the Atlantic 10, while Xavier falls to 5-6-0 on the year, 1-1-0 in league play.

After a nine-shot first half, the Fordham offense finally netted the opening goal of the game in the 70th minute of play. Following a shot and a save on an Annie Worden shot, Fordham's Mariella Romano fed Mary Solimine at the top of the box, who scored into the upper right part of the goal. It was Solimine's first career goal.

Xavier had three chances over the final 20 minutes to get the equalizer, but Rams' goalkeeper Sarah Zieman was up to the task, making three saves in that stretch, which included two in a span of 30 seconds on shots by Xavier's Lauren Heap and Leslie Boersma.

In total, Zieman made a career-high seven saves in the match for her fourth career shutout. For Xavier, Jennifer Perri and Jenny Rosen each played a half with Perri making four saves in the first half, while Rosen allowed the only goal of the game and made one save.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, October 8th, when the Rams play at Atlantic 10 opponent La Salle, in the first half of a soccer doubleheader, beginning at 5:00 PM.
