Mt. Vernon, Va. - The Fordham men's soccer team posted three goals on just eight shots on Friday afternoon, as the Rams shut out the George Washington Colonials, 3-0, at the Mt. Vernon Soccer Complex in Mt. Vernon, Va.

With the win, Fordham improves to 8-5 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic 10, while George Washington falls to 2-11 on the year, 0-4 in league play.

The Rams opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game as Marcus Axelsson headed home his second goal of the season from six yards out, after a flick-on header by John Niyonsaba off a Julian Nagel free kick. For Nagel, the assist was his third in as many games, while Niyonsaba picked up his fourth assist of the season.

Ferrantello put in a long service that bounced over the Colonial defense to McHugh, who slipped behind the GW defense and chipped over the goalkeeper. It was McHugh's third goal in the last two games.

The Rams closed out the scoring in the 78th minute, as Matt DesRoches scored his first collegiate goal on an assist by Tim Richardson. Richardson got off a centering pass from the end line right to an open DesRoches for the goal.
