Volleyball Swept by Saint Louis

St. Louis, Mo. - Despite a career-high seven blocks from Randi Ewing, the Fordham volleyball team was swept in three sets by the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday at Chafeitz Arena in St. Louis. Final set scores were 25-18, 25-15, and 25-18.

With the loss, Fordham is now 12-14 overall, 3-5 in the Atlantic 10, while the Billikens improved to 11-9 on the year, 4-2 in the league.

Early set surges by Saint Louis made the difference in the first two sets, as Saint Louis had an 8-1 run in the first set and a 9-0 run in the second set, leading to a seven-point and nine-point set win,respectively.

The third set saw Fordham trailing by one, 11-10, after a kill by Brittany Daulton, but the Billikens scored five of the next six points to take charge and win the match in three sets.

For Fordham, Katie Wells and Christi Griffiths each had six kills, while Randi Ewing added two kills and a career-high seven blocks. Mary Diamantidis dished out 20 assists to go with nine digs and two kills with Maria Rodenberg adding 12 digs defensively.

The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Wednesday, October 20th, when the Rams host Fairfield University, beginning at 7:00 PM.
