Duquesne's Michelle Mooren netted her first goal of the season, while Meghan Long added an insurance goal in the second half, as the Dukes shut out the Fordham Rams, 2-0, on Rooney Field in Pittsburgh, Pa.
With the loss, Fordham moves to 5-8-1 overall, 1-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Duquesne improved to 6-6-1 overall, 3-1 in the league.
Mooren opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, as she put in her first goal of the season off a scrum in front of the net, following a Duquesne corner kick.
The score remained at 1-0 until the 66th minute, when Long netted her third goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Ott for an insurance marker.
Fordham was unable to muster a comeback, as Duquesne out shot the Rams, 9-8. In net, Ashley Szalwinski made two saves for Duquesne in the shutout, while Fordham's Sarah Zieman had three saves in the loss.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 17th, when the Rams play at Atlantic 10 opponent, St. Bonaventure, beginning at 1:00 PM.
