Bronx, N.Y. - It took 44 games, but they say good things come to those who wait. For Fordham junior Sam Jolly, the statement rang true, as he netted his first career goal on Friday night in a 1-0 Atlantic 10 win over the Duquesne Dukes on Jack Coffey Field.

With the win, Fordham improves to 6-5-0 overall, 1-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Duquesne falls to 4-6-2 overall, 0-3 in the conference.

The hard fought contest was scoreless through the first half, until a second half set play by the Rams. Fordham was awarded a corner kick in the 62nd minute, which freshman Julian Nagel put into play. The ball was flicked across by Phil Ferrantello to Jolly, who rifled in his first career goal from the top of the eight-yard box.

The Rams were able to keep the Dukes off the scoresheet the rest of the game despite Duquesne outshooting the Rams, 13-6.

Fordham's Ryan Meara made six saves for his fourth shutout of the season, while Duquesne's Chris Torres posted four saves.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 17th, as the team hosts St. Bonaventure University for an Atlantic 10 match-up at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 1:00 PM.
