Women's Soccer Falls To Seton Hall

South Orange, N.J. - The Fordham women's soccer team looked to rebound from their loss on Friday with a quick start today against Seton Hall. However, it was the Pirates that scored three times in the first half en route to a 4-1 win over the Rams in South Orange, N.J.

With the loss, Fordham is now 0-4-1 on the season, while Seton Hall improved to 3-1.

Seton Hall struck early on their first shot of the game in the fourth minute, as Danielle Schulmann lobbed a pass into the middle to Wiebke Balcke for a header goal to the right side.

Just five minutes later, Seton Hall made it 2-0, as Balcke dribbled down the middle, feeding Nicki Gross on the left for a ten-yard shot and goal.

Kaitlyn Rogers then made it 3-0 in favor of Seton Hall in the 31st minute on a shot to the top left corner off a pass from Caitlyn Milazzo.

Gross later picked up her second goal of the game on a blast from the top of the box in the 64th minute, making it a 4-0 game.

Fordham did break up the shutout late in the second half, as Megan Cookson controlled a loose ball in front and scored her first collegiate goal in the 89th minute.

In net, Rachel Suther allowed three goals and made two saves in the first half for Fordham, while Jen Byer had four stops and one goal allowed in the second half.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, September 11th, as they play at Nevada, beginning at 10:00 PM Eastern (7:00 PM Pacific).
