Garden City, N.Y. - Though the Fordham men's soccer team had a 13-10 shooting advantage over Adelphi University, the Panthers made the most of their shots, putting two in the back of the net to the Rams' one goal as Adelphi defeated Fordham 2-1.

The loss gives the Rams an 0-2 record to start the season as Adelphi improves to 1-0-1.

Both team battled in the first half, though neither team had anything to show for it on the scoreboard as the match went into the half in a 0-0 tie.

Much was the same in the beginning of the second half until the Panthers brought the heat in the 52nd minute of play. It was then that Michael Aquino took a John Koutsounadis pass and put it past Fordham keeper Ryan Meara for the first goal of the match.

The Panthers struck again 15 minutes later when Kris Nosworthy netted a crossing pass from Kevin Gluchowski for a 2-0 lead.

That goal proved to be vital as Fordham would not go down without a fight. With just over seven minutes remaining in the match, sophomore Tim Richardson found senior Peter Graham in the Panther box. Graham used the Richardson pass and volleyed it out of the reach Adelphi goalie Thorne Holder to bring the Rams their first goal of the season.

Fordham has nearly a week to regroup as they will take on Lafayette at the Lafayette College Classic on Friday, September 11, at 8:00 PM.
