Looking to snap a five-match skid, the Fordham volleyball team traveled to Hempstead to meet the Hofstra Pride on Tuesday night. The Rams however were not given a warm welcome, falling to the Pride in four sets, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-22.
Fordham falls to 8-10 overall this season, while Hofstra improves to 5-11.
With the match tied at one set apiece, Hofstra used a 15-6 run to win the third set, highlighted by five service aces. In all, Hofstra posted 14 aces to just six errors, while Fordham had six aces to four errors.
In the fourth set, the score was tied at 22 before Hofstra scored the final three points on two kills by Taylor Moore and a Fordham error to win the match.
For Fordham, Kailee May recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 17 digs to go with three aces, while Katherine Burrell finished with 36 assists, 17 digs, and four kills. Jolanda Gunning-Snowden chipped in six kills and four blocks, with Megan Arend adding 17 digs and three assists.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Friday, October 2nd, when they play at Atlantic 10 opponent Charlotte, beginning at 7:00 PM.
