Box Score

Villanova, Pa. - With only one shot on net in the first 89 minutes, the Fordham-Villanova women's soccer looked destined for overtime. However, Villanova's Katie Ryan scored with 53 seconds left in regulation to give the Wildcats a 1-0 victory over the Rams.

With the loss, Fordham drops to 1-7-1 overall, and was the fourth one-goal loss the Rams have had this season.

Villanova started the game with the first four shots of the contest, but the Rams' offense then picked up the pace with six shots over the final 30 minutes of the half. Annie Worden registered three of those six shots, while Michelle Ancelj had the best chance in the 41st minute, but Villanova goalkeeper Molly Williams made the save.

The teams stayed scoreless and looked primed for overtime until the final minute of regulation. Katie Ryan was able to get away from the Fordham defense for a fast break chance and get by goalkeeper Jen Byer to net the only goal of the game with 53 seconds left in regulation. It was the eighth goal of the season for Ryan.

The Rams will now begin Atlantic 10 play on Friday, September 25th, as they play at Richmond, beginning at 7:00 PM.
