Bronx, N.Y. - Behind the first career goals of Leah Loguidice and Annie Worden, the Fordham women's soccer team posted a 3-0 victory over the Manhattan College Jaspers in the annual Battle of the Bronx at Gaelic Park on Friday night.

Fordham (1-6-1) jumped on Manhattan (3-4-0) early in the 13th minute, as Mariella Romano found Loguidice on a long ball down the left side. Loguidice then flicked a shot into the right corner for her first collegiate goal.

Jen Byer keeps Manhattan scoreless with a big save in the second half.

The Rams would hold that 1-0 lead into the second half, where Manhattan looked for the equalizer in the 57th minute. A long ball headed toward the top of the Fordham net, which goalkeeper Jen Byer was able to tip off the crossbar. The rebound came right to Michelle Miyaki for a shot, but Byer made a diving stop to the left to keep the Rams ahead.

Fordham added to their lead in the 79th minute with Loguidice doing the damage again. This time, Lauren Nowakowski booted a long ball toward the box that Loguidice picked up and drilled into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

The Rams then iced the game in the 85th minute, as Cara Rooney chipped a cross from the left side, which Worden shot and scored to the right side for her first collegiate goal.

In net, Byer was credited with two saves for her ninth career shutout, which moved her into a tie for second place all-time in shutouts at Fordham with Kim Kasper (1996-99).

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, September 20th, as they play at Villanova University, beginning at 12:00 PM.
