The Fordham water polo team concluded play at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, as the Rams finished with a 2-2 mark at the tournament. The Rams defeated Harvard by an 11-8 score, while falling to John Hopkins, 11-8.
The Rams are now 3-4 overall this season.
Still without the services of a number of players due to illness and injury, Fordham still had enough to defeat the Harvard Crimson, 11-8.
Ali Arat came up big for the Rams with his second five-goal game of the season to go with two steals, while Mikey Edwards added three tallies. Daniel Muñoz kept his strong weekend going with two goals and two steals, with Jakob Muller having the final goal. In net, Christian Flessner made seven saves to go one steal.
In the second match of the day, John Hopkins, the top-ranked team in the CWPA Division III poll, edged Fordham by an 11-8 count.
Edwards netted two goals to lead Fordham, while also playing a quarter in net, where he recorded a steal. J.D. Shrewsbury, Jake Bakas, Arat, Muller, Victor Bautista Medina, and Scott Nemecek also scored for the Rams. In three quarters of play, Flessner had 11 stops and one steal.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Friday, September 18th, as they begin play at the 2009 ECAC Championship against Connecticut College, beginning at 8:00 PM.
