Easton, Pa. - The Fordham men's soccer team could not reverse their luck at the Lafayette College Classic as the Rams fell to Lafayette 2-0 for their third straight loss. The Rams drop to 0-3 on the season as Lafayette improves to 3-0-1.

Fordham had their chances early in the first half with two straight corner kicks in the fourth minute of play, but the Rams could not record a shot on either opportunity. The only shot the Rams were able to get off in the half was from the foot of senior Mike McTigue as his strike sailed high.

The Rams defense stood up to the tests brought to them in the closing minutes of the half. Lafayette's Sean Peckham fired a shot in the 42nd minute that was blocked while Adam Allers put one back on net 19 seconds later, this time with sophomore keeper Ryan Meara collecting the shot for one of his two saves in the game.

It was in the second half that Lafayette got on the board with Peckham taking a Blake Fink pass and burying it into the back of the net to put the Leopards up 1-0.

Lafayette struck again with just over two minutes remaining in the match as B.J. Glenn capitalized on a breakaway, giving the Leopards the 2-0 lead.

Sophomores Sam Jolly and Matt Courtenay tried to give the Rams a fighting chance in the final minutes of play, but both of their shots were gathered up by Lafayette goalie Philip Nelson as he ended the game with three saves.

Fordham will close out their stint at the Lafayette College Classic with a match against Villanova on Sunday, September 13 at 12:00 PM.
