Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham baseball team punched their ticket to Dayton, Ohio for the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championships with Danny Leach staying hot at the plate along with Chris Walker's third home run of the year highlighting a 15 hit performance by the Rams' offense in the 8-6 victory over Temple.

Fordham extends their conference winning streak to five games while improving to 21-30 (15-11 Atlantic 10) with Temple falling to 17-32 (11-14 Atlantic 10).

Walker started things off with his homer to left field, putting the Rams up 1-0 in the second inning. Fordham plated two more runners in the third with Bobby DiNardo's sacrifice fly bringing in Leach from third while a misplayed ball by Temple third baseman Tony Jusino brought in another Rams' run as the bases were loaded on the play.

The Owls cut the Fordham lead to just one with two runs in the top of the fifth and tied the game, 3-3, on Ryan Ferguson's solo shot to center.

Fordham did not let Temple hold onto that lead for very long as they plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth to go back on top, 7-3. With runners on first and second, DiNardo hit a rocket to third that Jusino just got a piece of to keep the hit from becoming multi-bases. But the hard-hit ball did enough damage as it scored Leach from second.

Next up was Ryan McCrann as he smacked a double down the right-field line to bring in Kownacki from second while the Owls intentionally walked Nick Martinez to load the bases. Mike Mobbs apparently took offense to this as he used the opportunity to bring in two runners on his single through the left side.

In the bottom of the seventh, Fordham tacked on another needed run with Leach scoring on a wild pitch as the Owls plated two runs in the eighth to make it an 8-5 game. Chris Kaible came into the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the year, but not before allowing a run in on two hits. Jake Rabinowitz gets the win on 2.2 innings out of the bullpen, giving up three runs on five hits, one walk and one strike out.

No one can seem to figure Leach out as he has yet another multi-hit game, his seventh in his last eight games, going 3-5 with three runs and a walk. DiNardo went 1-2 with two RBI, two walks and a run scored while Mobbs brought home two runs in a 2-4 day.

Fordham will close out the regular season with one more game against Temple on Saturday, May 16 at 7:00 PM. Their opponent in the Atlantic 10 Championships is still to be determined with the tournament starting on Wednesday, May 20.
