St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - The Fordham softball bats came alive for 24 hits in their doubleheader against St. Bonaventure on Thursday, but only came away with a split of games, as the Rams dropped the opener, 2-1, and took the nightcap, 10-4.

With the split, Fordham is now 28-15 overall, 8-4 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure moves to 5-19 overall, 3-7 in the conference.

In game one, St. Bonaventure's Stephanie Narde's two-run double in the bottom of the sixth was the difference as the Bonnies captured a 2-1 win over the Rams.

Fordham opened the scoring in the top of the sixth, as Samantha Pellechio led off with a single, and was pinch run for by Jessica Richards. After a Jocelyn Dearborn sacrifice bunt advanced Richards to second, Meghan Shager singled up the middle to score Richards.

The Bonnies came back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, as with two outs and runners on second and third, Stephanie Narde dropped in a double down the left field line to score Shelly Seeger and Andrea Swanger.

The Rams managed to get the tying run on base in the seventh as Lindsey Kay Bright connected for her third single of the game, but was left stranded. Fordham finished the game with eight runners left on base, three of which were at third base.

Jen Mineau (12-8) made her return to the circle taking the loss, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with eight strikeouts. At the plate, Bright was 3-for-4, while Mary Beth Puccio had a pair of hits.

In game two, Samantha Pellechio and Megan Waldron each had three hits, while Chelsea Plimpton threw a complete game four-hitter, as the Rams won the nightcap, 10-4.

St. Bonaventure opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, as Swanger led off with a double, and scored on a double by Amanda Kotz. Kotz was then sacrificed to third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Nowak.

The Rams' offense finally got things rolling in the top of the third, exploding for seven runs on eight hits. Jo Krasnisky got the ball rolling with a double to right center, and moved to third on a single by Sarah Campbell. Melissa Andrews then loaded the bases with an infield single to third. Bright then singled to left, scoring Krasnisky. Campbell then scored on a fielder's choice ground ball by Puccio, followed by Andrews scoring on a wild pitch to give Fordham a 3-2 lead.

Jocelyn Dearborn then singled up the middle to score Puccio. Pellechio then doubled to right center, scoring Dearborn from first. Shager then ripped a double down the left field line, just inside the bag, scoring Pellechio. Megan Waldron then capped the scoring with an RBI-single to right for a 7-2 lead.

The Rams made it 10-2 in the top of the fifth, as Pellechio led off with her second double of the game. Shager then singled to right, scoring Pellechio. After a single by Waldron and a ground out put runners at second and third, Campbell singled through the left side to score both runners.

The Bonnies got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing on a pair of Fordham errors, to make it a 10-4 ball game. With runners on first and second and two outs, Ashley Kotz reached on an infield single, but the throw to first went errant, scoring a run. Swanger then hit a grounder to second that got through the Fordham fielder for an error, allowing another run to score, but that was all the offense the Bonnies could muster against Fordham starter Chelsea Plimpton.

Plimpton improved to 9-1 on the season, allowing one earned run over seven innings on four hits, while striking out four. At the plate, Samantha Pellechio was 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Megan Waldron had three hits and an RBI. Sarah Campbell and Meghan Shager also had two hits and two RBI apiece.

The Fordham softball team will now take a couple of days off for Easter break and return to action on Wednesday, April 15th, as they host Hofstra University for a single game, beginning at 6:00 PM.
