Bronx, N.Y. - A change in venue and a seventh inning rain delay did not deter St. John's University to holding the Fordham baseball team to just one run on seven hits as the Red Storm defeated the Rams, 8-1.

Fordham falls to 14-24 on the season while St. John's improves to 21-14.

Junior Brando Casalicchio got the Rams started on the right foot, pitching three hitless innings while striking out one and giving up one walk. Senior Jake Rabinowitz came in relief in the fourth when St. John's piled on seven runs in the inning to take the commanding 7-0 lead.

The Red Storm got those runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batter. Six of the seven runs were charged to Rabinowitz as he was only able to get one out in the inning while John Young gave up one run before getting the final outs.

The Rams brought their only run across the board in the bottom of the seventh. With Mike Mobbs on second after doubling to left field, Alex Kenny singled to center for his first hit of the game to bring home Mobbs.

St. John's tacked on one more run in the top of the ninth off of senior Chris Kaible before Ryan Cole came in to shut down the Rams in the bottom of the ninth.

Ryan McCrann led the Fodham offense with two hits while Kenny drove in the only run of the day. Rabinowitz takes his fifth loss of the year while St. John's starter Nick Cenatiempo improves to 3-2 with the win.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, April 24, when they host Dayton University in the first of three games at 7:00 PM.
