The Fordham squash team lost to Columbia University on Saturday afternoon, falling by an 8-1 score to the Lions. With the loss, Fordham falls to 4-9 on the season.
James Lechleitner picked up the lone Fordham point, defeating Columbia's Will McDavid at the eighth position, 3-1. Lechleitner dropped the first set to McDavid, 10-8, before winning the next three by scores of 10-8, 9-6 and 9-7.
Jason Sherriff almost picked up another point for Fordham, falling to Columbia's John Kamfonas, 3-2, at the second spot. Sherriff took the first set, 9-7, before falling to Kamfonas in the second, 10-9. Sherriff came back to take the third set, 9-4, but Kamfonas won the final two sets by scores of 9-1 and 9-5.
The Fordham squash team will next be in action on Friday, February 20th, as the open play at the College Squash Association Team Tournament in Princeton, New Jersey.
