Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham women's basketball team joined over 1,500 schools and institutions by hosting St. Bonaventure University for the first of two WBCA "Pink Zone" games at the Rose Hill Gym. St. Bonaventure out lasted Fordham, 56-48 in the Saturday afternoon Valentines Day match-up.

Fordham falls to 8-17 (1-9 Atlantic 10) as St. Bonaventure improves to 19-6 (8-2 Atlantic 10).

Fordham jumped out of the gate running, leading the Bonnies by six at the mid-way point in the first half. With 7:06 left in the first, Kyara Weekes knocked down three of her ten points with a trey from right side to put the Rams ahead, 17-10.

After exchanging a few baskets, Weekes would give the Rams their largest lead of the half on a jumper in the paint to put Fordham up 21-13 with just over five minutes remaining first half.

That eight point lead would be short lived as the Bonnies battled back, scoring seven straight points in just over two minutes to bring the St. Bonaventure deficit to just one point with Fordham leading, 21-20.

A Randall Hurst basket and another good jumper by Weekes would be met with the Bonnies' Dana Mitchell basket to close out the half with Fordham on top, 25-22.

Though the Bonnies found their stroke towards the end of the half, the Rams did keep them to 26.8% shooting from the floor and 0-5 from beyond the arc. Tiffany Stokes battled hard under the boards and kept Bonaventure leading scorer Dana Mitchell to 1-10 shooting from the floor in the half.

St. Bonaventure kept their first half momentum going into the second as the Bonnies opened up with 12-4 run. It was not until sophomore Alexandra Zamora hit a layup with 11:23 remaining that the Rams hit their first field goal of the second half.

With a three-point lead, St. Bonaventure kept the pressure on, scoring nine points to the Rams two to go up 43-35. Fordham would cut the lead back down to three with Kristina Bell and Annie Zopf combining for seven points to go along with two of Hurst's 19 points.

But back came the Bonnies, pushing the lead to as much as nine with 51 seconds to go. Though Becky Peters and Tiffany Stokes would add two points a piece, the Rams could not cut deep enough into the St. Bonaventure lead as the Bonnies closed out the game on top, 56-48.

Randall Hurst led all scorers with 19 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Kyara Weekes chipped in ten as Becky Peters added eight points.

The Rams return to the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday, February 18th as they host Saint Joseph's University at 7:00 PM. Wednesday's game will be the second of two WBCA "Pink Zone" games to hosted by the Rams as all donations taken from both games will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

NOTES: For the 20th time out of 25 games, the Rams kept their opponent to under their scoring average as the Bonnies have been averaging 63.8 points per game prior to the contest...Randall Hurst's 19 points are the most for the forward since scoring 22 at Leigh...Hurst also scored 19 against Navy...With the loss, Fordham falls to 3-8 when playing on Valentines Day as the last win on Cupid's day came on February 14, 1989 against Iona.
