Cambridge, Mass. -
In a game between the top two seeds in the CWPA Northern Division Championship, the Fordham water polo team came up just shy of their first conference championship, falling to Brown University by an 8-7 score in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Despite Fordham's early 3-2 lead after the first eight minutes of play, Brown stormed back to outscore the Rams 5-1 in the second and third quarters to hold onto a 7-4 advantage heading into the fourth.
Fordham didn't going down without a fight as the Rams outscored the Bears, 3-1, in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to erase the deficit. With just 37 seconds left on the clock Fordham called a timeout to try to tie the score, but Brown came up with a steal to seal the victory for Brown.
For Fordham, Ali Arat led the offense with three goals, while Mikey Edwards and Andrew Dentinger each had two. In net, Christian Flessner made seven stops.
