Bronx, N.Y. - A balanced scoring attack plus 52% shooting and a +13 rebounding margin was exactly the formula the Fordham women's basketball team was looking for on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, 76-60, at the Rose Hill Gym.

With the win, Fordham evens its record at 2-2, while Fairleigh Dickinson falls to 2-3.

With the score tied at seven early in the first half, Fordham exploded for an 18-6 run, capped by two Katie Vican three-pointers, giving Fordham a 25-13 lead. The Rams continued to shoot extremely well, extending their lead to as many as 14, late in the period on a basket by Caitlin Shadbolt, and would go into halftime ahead 35-23.

In addition to the solid shooting in the first half, the Rams' defense forced Fairleigh Dickinson into 12 first half turnovers, recording six steals and limiting the Knights' chances. At the break, Vican led all scorers with 12 points and five rebounds, while Randall Hurst was also in double figures for Fordham with 10 points.

The second half was more of the same for the Rams, leading by double figures the rest of the game. The closest Fairleigh Dickinson got was 11 points with 13:08 remaining, but the Rams quickly put that threat to rest, extending their advantage to as many as 18, 73-55, on a basket by Becky Peters.

For Fordham, five Rams finished with at least eight points and three assists, led by Hurst with 18 points and four rebounds. Vican, in her first start as a Ram, posted 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Kristina Bell had 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Peters chipped in nine points and five boards with Kyara Weekes having eight points, three steals, and a career-high five assists.

The Fordham women's basketball team will next be in action on Friday, November 27th, when they open play at the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament with a match-up against Florida Atlantic at 2:00 PM.
