Bronx, N.Y. - After winning their last five straight, including four Atlantic 10 games, the Fordham men's soccer team knew that it was going to have its work cut out for itself as they took on perennial A-10 soccer power Saint Louis. Unfortunately for the Rams, their winning streak came to an end with a 4-1 loss to the Billikens at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 7-6-1 overall, 4-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis improves to 8-5-0 overall, 3-1 in the conference.

The Billikens got on the board first when Tim Ream took a shot from 30-yard off a free kick the that glanced off the Fordham wall and then hit the underside of the cross bar. James Dice was there for Saint Louis to collect the rebound and put the ball in the back of the net in the 21st minute.

The Rams tied the game at one just over six minutes later as Matt Courtenay went on a run up the right flank, crossing the ball inside for John Niyonsaba, who put it past SLU keeper Ross Kaufman for his second tally of the season.

The score remained 1-1 until the first minute of the second half when Alex Johnston notched his second goal of the season just 27 seconds into the half. Stephen Bortolon started the play moving up the left side, finding Johnston across the box toward the far post. Johnston fired inside the opposite post for the SLU go-ahead goal, giving the Billikens a 2-1 lead.

Several minutes later, Roach made it 3-1 game, dribbling the ball into the box and getting off a shot from 12 yards to the far-side.
