Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham's Alex Brunbauer scored in the 38th minute of the first half, while Ryan Meara made two saves in net, as the Fordham Rams recorded a 1-0 shutout win over the University of Delaware on Friday night at Jack Coffey Field.

With the win, Fordham improves to 1-2-0 on the year, while Delaware falls to 0-2-1.

The Fordham offense was stuck in the wrong gear for a portion of the first half, as they were called for seven offsides in the first half. Nevertheless, the Rams still got the first major scoring chance in the 19th minute, as Louis Vigliotti chipped a shot over the top of Delaware keeper Conrad Rusnak, but Kyle Davis came across to knock the ball away before it went into the net.

The Rams then cracked the scoreboard in the 38th minute, as Aaron Markowitz and Tim Richardson connected for two quick passes, finding Alex Brunbauer for a 15-yard shot to the left post, which bounced off the post and into the net. It was the first goal of Brunbauer's three-year career at Fordham.

The Fordham defense then locked down on the Blue Hens, allowing five shots in the contest, with Fordham goalkeeper Ryan Meara collecting two saves for his first career shutout.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, September 7th, when they host the Lehigh University at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 1:00 PM.
