Bronx, N.Y. - In a match-up of two of the top teams in the Atlantic 10, Fordham's Kim Boulos and Katie Sanchez each had a goal, while Mariella Romano recorded two assists, as the Fordham Rams blanked the Saint Louis Billikens, 2-0, at Jack Coffey Field on Sunday.

With the win, Fordham improves to 5-3-1 overall, 2-0 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis goes to 5-2-3 overall, 1-1 in league play.

"The team played to my expectations today, but they can play even better," said Fordham head coach Ness Selmani. "They never slack off, and I couldn't be more proud of their fantastic attitude. It was a great win."

Fordham put the pressure on Saint Louis early, taking three of the first four shots on net. In the 17th minute, the Rams cracked the scoreboard first. Mariella Romano took the ball away from a Saint Louis defender on a slide tackle, pushing the ball to Kim Boulos. Boulos then ripped a 20-yard shot from the left side, scoring her fifth goal of the season to the far right corner of the net.

Fordham threatened again later in the period, as Katie Sanchez deflected the ball toward the center of the goal, which Saint Louis goalkeeper Hannah Perry dove on, keeping the ball out of the net.

The score stayed at 1-0 until the final seconds of play, where Fordham took their tenth corner kick of the afternoon. Romano took the corner, which Sanchez headed into the net for her third goal of the season and seal the Fordham win.

Fordham finished the game with a 14-5 shot advantage, as well as a 10-2 difference in corner kicks. In net, Fordham's Jen Byer made one save for her third shutout of the season, while Perry had five saves for the Billikens.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, October 3rd, as they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at 7:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
