Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - After recording five shutouts in 2007, the Fordham men's soccer squad is looking to better that mark this fall and they are off to a good start, recording three shutouts over the first seven games. On Saturday, the Rams notched their second straight shutout, blanking Marist College, 3-0, at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.

With the win, the Rams even their record at 3-3-1 while Marist falls to 1-4-1.

The scoring load was shared by three different Rams, with Aaron Markowitz, Tim Richardson and Matt Courtenay each netting a goal. Ryan Meara recorded four saves in the Fordham net to pick up his third shutout of the season.

The Rams got on the board early, as Mike McTigue fed Markowitz, who got off a shot that beat Marist keeper Scott Kessler in the sixth minute for his team-leading third goal of the year.

The 1-0 score held until the second half. Fordham's John Pardini got off a shot in the 62nd minute that Kessler managed to save but the rebound came right to Richardson, who pounced on it and put it past Kessler for his second tally of the year.

Courtenay closed out the night's scoring, putting a shot over Kessler's head, with assists from Sam Acheampong and Sam Jolly in the 79th minute.

Meara made two saves in the second half for the Rams, who outshot the Red Foxes 13-8 in the game. He preserved the shutout with a save of a Caleb Shaw shot in the 82nd minute.

The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, September 27th as the travel to Oneonta, N.Y., to face Hartwick College at 7:00 p.m.
