Behind a stellar offensive performance, the Fordham volleyball team swept a three-set match from Sacramento State in the opener of the Aggie Invitational, hosted by UC-Davis. Final set scores were 25-18, 25-20, and 25-19.
With the win, Fordham improved to 9-4 overall, while Sacramento State fell to 2-10.
The Rams' offense was clicking most of the match, hitting .326 overall to go with five service aces. Fordham had four players hit better than .357 in the match, led by Christi Griffiths' .412 hitting percentage.
Griffiths totaled eight kills, four blocks and two aces to lead the Fordham attack, while Katherine Burrell finished with four kills, 28 assists, and nine digs. Kailee May also had eight kills in the match, while Jenna Hart, Katie Wells, and Jolanda Gunning-Snowden each had six kills.
The Fordham volleyball team will wrap up play at the Aggie Invitational with two matches on Saturday, September 20th. Fordham will meet host UC-Davis at 3:30 PM Eastern and Cal State Bakersfield at 7:30 Eastern.
