Baltimore, Md. - The Fordham University men's soccer squad opened its 2008 season with an appearance at the 2008 Loyola Black & Decker Soccer Classic where, despite outshooting the Greyhounds, the Rams fell to the host team, 2-0, in first day of action.

Fordham had an early chance to crack the scoreboard as a Tim Richardson blast beat Loyola keeper Milos Kocic but banged off the post, in the second minute of play.

Louis Vigliotti also had a chance for the Rams in the 17th minute but his shot was saved by Kocic.

Loyola got on the board in the 30th minute as Daniel Ankrah took a feed from Eddie Dines and beat Fordham keeper Ryan Meara.

Just four minutes later, the Greyhounds made it a 2-0 game when Jamie Darvill collected a Glenn Leitch pass and found the back of the net.

Kocic made the two goals stand up for Loyola, making the one save for his first shutout of the year. Meara recorded two saves in the Fordham net as the Rams outshot the Greyhounds, 7-6, on the day.

The Rams will now face Drexel University, a 2-1 winner over Hartwick on the first day, in the second round of the 2008 Loyola Black & Decker Soccer Classic on Sunday, August 31st, at 10:30 a.m.
