Bronx, N.Y. -
The Fordham men's soccer team concluded exhibition play on Saturday evening with a shutout performance, netting a 1-0 victory over Stony Brook at Jack Coffey Field.
The Rams bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Adelphi last week with a solid defensive performance, holding Stony Brook to four shots in the game.
After a scoreless first half, Fordham scored the only goal of the game at the 51:52 mark. After a foul was called on Stony Brook, Fordham freshman Sam Jolly chipped the free kick into the box, which Felipe Gomez flicked a header over the top of Seawolves' goalkeeper Dawid Ditrich for the lone goal of the game.
The Rams put together a total of eight shots and seven corner kicks on the night.
The Fordham men's soccer team will now open their regular season on Friday, August 29th, as they play at the Loyola Black & Decker Soccer Classic in Baltimore, Maryland, where the Rams will face host team Loyola at 5:00 PM.
