Final Stats

Bronx, N.Y. - After shutting out the Atlantic 10's best offense on Friday night, the Fordham Rams experienced the full force of the Charlotte offense today as the 49ers collected 12 hits and scored ten runs in a 10-2 Atlantic 10 baseball win over the Rams at Houlihan Park.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 26-21-1 overall, 10-11 in the Atlantic 10, while Charlotte improves to 34-13 overall, 14-7 in the conference.

Charlotte wasted little time in getting on the board, picking up a run in the first as O'Brien Taylor tripled with one out and scored on a Shayne Moody single.

The 49ers tacked on two more runs in the second, taking advantage of two Fordham errors. Corey Shaylor opened the Charlotte second getting hit by a pitch. Alan Parks followed with a ground ball to the shortstop hole which Fordham shortstop Rich Goulian was able to glove, but his throw to second went out into right field, allowing Shaylor to come all the way around to score and Parks to move to third. Aaron Bray then delivered Parks with a single.

Charlotte picked up another run in the fourth as Shaylor led off with a walk, took second on a wild pitch and third on another wild pitch and came in to score on a Bray sacrifice fly.

A three-run sixth gave the 49ers a commanding 7-0 lead as, with one out, Parks singled and Bray reached on a throwing error with Parks advancing to third on the play. Cory Tilton plated both runners with a triple off the third base bag and he would score on a Justin Wilson ground out.

The 49ers picked up three more in the seventh on RBI singles from Chris Taylor and Tilton and an RBI ground out from Bray.

Charlotte starter Luke Stahl kept the Rams' bats in check through the first six innings, allowing just two hits, both infield singles, and one walk while striking out seven. Fordham finally got to Stahl in the seventh when Rob Iacono reached on a third Ram infield single and he came in to score when Charlotte left fielder O'Brien Taylor tried to make a diving catch of a Bobby DiNardo liner but the ball got by him, allowing DiNardo to reach on a triple. DiNardo them came in to score on a Mike Mobbs infield single.

The Rams will next be in action on Friday night, May 9th, as they open a three-game Atlantic 10 series with Xavier University at Houlihan Park beginning at 7:00 p.m.
