New York Tech jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as Effrey Valdez hit a three-run home run to left, scoring Denten Neill and Mike LaLuna, who both walked.
Fordham responded immediately with five runs in the bottom of the first. Rich Goulian and Danny Leach got things going with back-to-back singles, followed by a walk to Eric Reese to load the bases. Chris Kaible then plated Goulian with a sacrifice fly. Ryan McCrann then singled home Leach with Reese going to third. After a walk to P.J. Como reloaded the bases, Rob Iacono drew another walk to force in Reese to tie the game. Chris Walker then ripped a two-run single to give Fordham a 5-3 lead.
After a sacrifice fly made it 5-4, Fordham scored three times in the second for an 8-4 advantage. With runners at second and third and no outs, Reese plated Goulian with a ground out. Kaible then doubled home Leach for a three-run lead. Como then capped the scoring with an RBI-single to score Kaible.
New York Tech though came back to score five times in the top of the fourth to grab a 9-8 lead, highlighted by a two-run single by Valdez.
The offense kept rolling, as Fordham recaptured the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a five-run frame. Alex Kenny got things started with a single up the middle and moved to second on a single by Goulian. Leach then doubled down the left field line, scoring Kenny with Goulian moving to third. Goulian then scored on a bunt single by Reese to regain the lead. With Leach at third, Reese stole second, but the pickoff throw was errant, allowing Leach to score and Reese moved to third. Reese later scored on a ground out by Kaible. McCrann then tripled to left and scored on a sacrifice fly by Como.
The Bears didn't stay down long, pulling within one, 13-12, in the top of the seventh, as Jerry Smith connected on an RBI-double and Denten Neill hit a two-run triple.
New York Tech did get the tying run on base in the ninth as Smith singled with one out. Goulian and Reese though were able to turn an outstanding double play on George Carroll to end the game.
