Philadelphia, Pa. - La Salle's Kevin Fuqua threw a complete game three-hitter, while T.J. Chism had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth as La Salle topped Fordham, 3-2, at Hank DeVincent Field.

With the loss, Fordham drops to 20-18-1 overall, 6-9 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle improves to 9-29 on the year, 4-11 in the league.

La Salle opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning. Justin Handler opened the inning with a single to left and moved to second on a walk to John Rickards. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base, Handler scored on a wild pitch.

Brian Meagher then made it 2-0 in favor of the Explorers in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to left, his second of the season.

Fordham then knotted the game at two in the top of the sixth inning. Alex Kenny led off with a single to center, and moved to second on a balk. After a walk to Rich Goulian, Danny Leach sacrificed the runners to second and third. La Salle then intentionally walked Eric Reese to load the bases for Chris Kaible. Kaible then singled up the middle, scoring Kenny and Goulian to tie the game. The rally though was halted as Ryan McCrann grounded into a double play to end the threat.

La Salle regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth, as Rickards doubled to right, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by T.J. Chism.

Fordham was unable to muster the tying run in the ninth against Fuqua, who finished off the complete game win with a 1-2-3 ninth.

For Fordham, J.P. Mack threw the first seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits, while Greg Dimmling (0-1) took the loss giving up a single run in the eighth on two hits. Fordham managed just three hits on the afternoon, a two-run single by Kaible and singles from Kenny and P.J. Como.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, April 22nd, as they host Iona College for the first night game of the season at Houlihan Park, beginning at 7:00 PM.
