Box Score

St. Louis, Mo. - Due to incoming weather into the Saint Louis area on Sunday, the Fordham Rams and the Saint Louis Billikens played two on Saturday with each getting a win on the day. Fordham won the opener, 7-6, while Saint Louis took the nightcap, 9-3.

With the split, Fordham moves to 13-10 overall, 2-4 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis is now 11-12 on the year, 2-4 in the league.

In game one, Saint Louis opened the scoring in the first as J.D. Dunn singled, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a throwing error.

The Rams tied the game in the second on an RBI-single Rich Goulian, but the Billikens regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on an RBI-single from Tom Pinnell.

Fordham quickly tied the game again in the third inning, as Chris Kaible connected on a solo home run to right, his third of the season.

The Rams took their first lead of the game in the top of fifth, as Danny Leach walked, stole second and moved to third on an error. After a walk to Goulian, Eric Reese plated Leach with a fielder's choice. Fordham made it a 4-2 lead in the sixth, as Reese doubled to left center, scoring Goulian, who reached on a single and stole second. The hit was Reese's 200th career hit, becoming the ninth Ram to reach that plateau.

Fordham extended the lead to 6-2 in the top of the eighth, as with one out, P.J. Como walked and Alex Kenny singled him to third. Ryan David then plated Como with a sacrifice fly. Rob Iacono then connected for a double to the gap, which was misplayed, allowing Kenny to score from first.

Saint Louis wouldn't go away, as they tied the game at six in the bottom half of the inning on a bases loaded walk, an infield single with the bases loaded, a fielder's choice and an RBI-double.

Fordham came right back to retake the lead in the following inning, as Goulian walked, stole second, and scored on an RBI-double by Kaible.

Kaible, who came on to pitch in the eighth, was able to get the final three outs, two on strikeouts, to record his first win of the season. He helped his own cause, going 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two RBI. Goulian finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Reese had a double and two RBI.

In game two, Fordham caused much of their own problems as they gave up 12 walks, which lead to most of Saint Louis' nine runs in the game.

After getting a run in the first on no hits, Saint Louis increased the lead to 4-0 in the second on two bases loaded walks and a wild pitch.

The Billikens made it 7-0 in the fifth, on a two-run double by Dunn and an RBI-single by Ramee Yacoub.

Fordham cracked the scoreboard in the top of the sixth with a two-out rally. Danny Leach started the rally with a single, followed by a Goulian single. After Leach moved to third on a wild pitch, Reese singled to left to score Leach and move Goulian to second. Kaible then singled to left, plating Goulian.

After Saint Louis regained their seven-run lead with two in the bottom of the seventh, Fordham capped the scoring with a run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Angelo Ponte.

Jake Rabinowitz (2-1) took the loss for Fordham, allowing four runs on eight walks. At the plate, Goulian was the lone Ram with a multi-hit game, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, April 1st, when they play at New York Tech, beginning at 3:30 PM.
