Bronx, N.Y. - Entering the 2008 season, the Fordham Rams didn't know what to expect from their pitching staff. Gone were two top starters from last year, Cory Riordan and Javier Martinez, who were both taken in June's Major League Baseball draft. On Tuesday, five Fordham hurlers showed that the future may be just as bright for the Rams as they combined on a one-hitter, leading Fordham (10-5) to a 10-1 win over New York Tech (4-4), 10-1, at Houlihan Park.

The win is the tenth in a row for the Rams, who are unbeaten since opening the season 0-5. Fordham also extended its home winning streak to 15, the third longest active home winning streak in the nation.

The Rams scored all the runs they would need in the first, putting up five runs on four hits and taking advantage of two New York Tech errors. Danny Leach led off with a triple to right center and he came around to score on a Rich Goulian single. Goulian stole second, and one out later, swiped third, coming in to score when the throw from the Bear catcher went into left field. After a walk to Chris Kaible, Bobby DiNardo doubled down to leftfield line to plate Kaible and, one out later, DiNardo scored on a Joe Russo single. Mike Mobbs then reached on another New York Tech error, with Russo moving to third on the play. After Mobbs stole second, Russo scored on a passed ball to give the Rams a 5-0 lead.

Fordham made it 7-0 with two more in the second when, with one out, Goulian was hit by a pitch and moved to third on an Eric Reese single. After Reese stole second, both runners came on to score on a Kaible double.

The Bears were held hitless over the first six innings, with only five base runners over that time. The Fordham no-hitter was broken up in the seventh when George Carroll connected on a two-out single off Fordham reliever Greg Dimmling after Joe Lucente was hit by a pitch. A walk to Eric Cos loaded the bases and Denten Neill was hit by pitch, forcing in Lucente with the Bears' lone run of the day.

The Rams scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to take a commanding 10-1 lead. With one out, pinch hitter Shane Fox walked, stole second and scored on a Mobbs triple. Mobbs then came in to score on a P.J. Como triple and Como would score later in the inning on a bases loaded walk to Reese.

Max Krakowiak (1-0) threw the first five innings for the Rams, allowing no hits and striking out two, to earn his first win at Fordham. John Young, Dimmling, John Flanagan and Ryan Sheflott each threw an inning of relief for the Rams.

Russo finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate for the Rams with a triple and two RBI while Reese was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The Rams will next be in action on Thursday, March 20th, as they open their Atlantic 10 schedule by hosting the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies at Houlihan Park in the first game of a three-game series starting at 12:00 p.m.
