Women's Basketball Season Ends at #15 George Washington

Washington, D.C. - Playing the 15th ranked team in nation on their Senior Day proved to be a rough task for the short-handed Fordham Rams, as the Colonials posted a 66-27 victory at the Smith Center in Washington, D.C.

The Colonials finished their regular season at 24-5 overall, 12-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Fordham finishes their season at 0-29 overall, 0-14 in the league.

The 27 points was the lowest point total by the Rams, since the NCAA began sponsoring women's basketball in 1982.

Fordham opened the game with a 5-3 lead, as Megan Mahoney started the game with a three-pointer, followed by a jumper by Kassie Humphries. George Washington then went on a 12-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from Kim Beck to take a 15-5 lead with 11:56 left in the first half. The Colonials stretched that run to 19 straight points and their lead to 22-5, before Mahoney broke the run with a fast break lay-up. The Colonials continued to hit the offensive glass and run the break, opening a 28-10 lead with over three minutes left.

George Washington held the Rams without a basket over the final 6:47 of the first half, taking a 31-10 lead into the half. The Colonials outrebounded Fordham, 30-17 in the period, while the Rams were also forced into 13 turnovers.

The second half was more of the same, as George Washington connected on three three-pointers of the first five minutes, including two from Beck, to stretch the lead to 42-16. The Colonials' Jazmine Adair then went to work down low, scoring six straight points, as George Washington went up 55-25 with under four minutes to go, and went on to win by a 66-27 margin.

For Fordham, Megan Mahoney led the way with 15 points and two steals, while Alex Zamora and Kristina Bell each had four points.

For George Washington, Jazmine Adair recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Whitney Allen also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
