Starkville, Miss. - Erin Fisher's bases clearing double highlighted an eight-run fifth inning, as the Fordham softball team wrapped up play at the 2008 Bulldog Round Robin with an 11-9 come from behind win over Wright State on Sunday.

With the win, Fordham improves to 2-3, while Wright State falls to 0-5.

Things didn't start well for Fordham, as they found themselves down 7-0 in the second inning. Wright State scored twice in the first inning, and then five unearned runs in the second to take a commanding lead.

The Rams chipped away at the lead, scoring twice in the second and once in the third to make it, 7-3. In the second, Allison Storc reached on an error, moved to second on a ground ball, and scored on a single by Samantha Pellechio. Pellechio, who had taken second on the single, moved to third on an illegal pitch, and scored on a bunt single by Sarah Campbell.

The Rams picked up their third run in the third, as Allison Twarowski, Melissa Andrews, and Mary Beth Puccio opened the inning with three straight singles to load the bases. Twarowski then scored on a fielder's choice by Storc.

Wright State got that run back in the fourth off another Fordham error, which left runners at first and third with two outs. Allison Cox then singled through the left side to score Jamie Perkins for an 8-3 lead.

The game stayed that way until the bottom of the fifth, where Fordham exploded for eight runs and take an 11-8 lead. Andrews led off the inning with a single, followed by an infield single by Puccio. Jocelyn Dearborn then singled up the middle to score Andrews, with Puccio going to third and Dearborn to second on an errant throw. After Storc drew a walk to load the bases, Erin Fisher notched a bases clearing double to make it an 8-7 game.

Pellechio then reached on an infield single, with Fisher and Pellechio moving up on a sacrifice bunt by Nicole Ayres. Campbell then reached on a fielder's choice, where Fisher and Pellechio both scored on the play, as the ball got away from the Wright State catcher. Campbell, who went all the way to third on the play, then scored immediately, as Twarowski lifted a sacrifice fly to left for a 10-8 lead.

Fordham still wasn't done in the inning, as Andrews singled, stole second, and scored on a double by Puccio.

Wright State was able to pick up one unearned run in the ninth, but it would be enough as Ayres got a strikeout and two ground outs to end the game.

For Fordham, Melissa Andrews and Mary Beth Puccio each had three hits in the game, while Erin Fisher drove in three. Samantha Pellechio and Allison Twarowski each had two hits, while Sarah Campbell had two RBI. In the circle, Nicole Ayres improved to 2-1 on the year, as she allowed two earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.

The Fordham softball team will next be in action on February 22-24, as they play at the Palm Springs Classic in Palm Springs, California. The Rams' first opponents will be #13 Stanford and #25 Oregon State on Friday night, followed by match-ups with Pacific and Team USA on Saturday.
