Washington, D.C. - Continuing a longtime Jesuit school rivalry, the Fordham Rams held their own against the Georgetown Hoyas, keeping the Hoyas below their season scoring average of 71 points, but unfortunately that was not enough, falling to Georgetown, 58-46, at McDonough Gym in Washington, D.C.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 3-4 overall, while Georgetown improves to 6-1 on the season.

The Rams started the game hitting from long range, as Becky Peters and Annie Zopf both hit long three-point shots, giving Fordham an 8-6 lead. Georgetown then reeled off ten straight points, with four each from Shanice Fuller and Adria Crawford, to take a 16-8 advantage. The Rams then slowly cut into the lead as Kyara Weekes hit a three-pointer followed by a basket by Tiffany Stokes, making it a 22-15 game. Fordham would hold Georgetown to just two baskets over the final seven minutes of the period, while scoring at the free throw line to trail, 26-21, at the half.

At the break, neither team shot well with the Hoyas clicking at 34.5% while Fordham shot 28.6% from the floor. The biggest reason for the Hoyas' lead was rebounding, grabbing ten offensive rebounds and scoring seven second chance points. Georgetown also held a 14-4 scoring advantage in the paint.

The Hoyas started the second half by scoring the first eight points of the period, capped by a three-pointer from Rubylee Wright, to take a 34-21 lead with 15:53 remaining. The Rams cut into the lead on a three-point basket by Kristina Bell and two free throws by Stokes to be down eight, 40-32 with 9:08 to go. Georgetown however got a three-pointer from Meredith Cox, her second of the game, to regain their double-digit lead, 45-34.

The Rams again cut the lead to single-digits at 50-44 on free throws by Stokes, but Krystle Hatton notched a basket and free throw to push the lead back to ten, 55-45, which eventually turned into a 58-46 win for the Hoyas.

For the game, Fordham's Becky Peters, in her first career start, scored a game-high 13 points to go with seven rebounds, while Kristina Bell added a season-high ten points. Tiffany Stokes chipped in nine points, eight rebounds, and two blocks off the bench.

Georgetown was led by Adria Crawford, who finished with a double-double at 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Fordham women's basketball team will next be in action on Saturday, December 6th, as they host Wofford College at 1:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym. In addition to the game, it will be Alumni Day, where Fordham will honor the 30th anniversary of the 1978-79 Eastern Regional Championship team, as well as the 15th anniversary of the 1993-94 Patriot League Championship team which has Fordham's lone NCAA Tournament appearance.
