Box Score

St. Louis, Mo. - Just one week ago, Fordham and Dayton had what amounted to a playoff game with the winner earning a bye at this week's Atlantic 10 Championship. Dayton won that contest in overtime, earning the bye. The same two teams met again on Friday with Dayton once again edging the Rams by one, 2-1, ending Fordham's season in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal in Saint Louis, Missouri.

With the loss, Fordham concludes their season at 12-6-2 overall, while Dayton moves to 15-5-1 and advances to the Atlantic 10 Championship game against Charlotte on Sunday.

Dayton got out to a quick 1-0 lead just 3:34 into the game. Off a corner kick, Kelsey Owen, who scored the game-winner last week, was able to score off a scramble in the box for her fifth goal of the season.

Fordham tied the game at the 12:32 mark, as Dayton committed a foul in the box, awarding a penalty kick to Fordham. Catherine Huvane put home the penalty kick for her second goal of the season and tie the game at one.

In the second half, Fordham put on the pressure early, as off one flurry, Dayton's Deana Waintraub made two saves on Fordham's Alexis Ribadeneyra, and then had some luck as Kim Boulos hit the goal post in the 54th minute. Then, Katie McDermott almost put Fordham ahead, but her shot sailed just over the crossbar in the 58th minute.

Dayton then broke the stalemate in the 63rd minute for a 2-1 lead. Colleen Gibson got a break up the left side and found Mandi Back, who then scored from 13 yards to the far post for her eighth goal of the season.

Fordham tried desperately to get the equalizer, getting shots from Michelle Ancelj, Katie Sanchez, and Kelsey Walker, but none found the back of the net, ending Fordham's season.

In net, Fordham's Elisabeth Roald made seven saves in her final game as a Ram, while Deana Waintraub had four saves for Dayton.

Following the conlcusion of the championship, Fordham's Mariella Romano was named to the All-Championship team.
