Bronx, N.Y. -
Fordham's John Pardini and Brett Heyder both scored their first goal of the season, as the Fordham men's soccer team topped the Bryant Bulldogs, 3-1, at Jack Coffey Field. With the win, Fordham evens their record at 4-4-1 overall, while Bryant falls to 1-11-1.
Fordham cracked the scoreboard first without a shot in the second minute of play. Fordham's Steve Woicik kicked a cross toward the Bryant net, but the ball slipped through Bryant goalkeeper Neil Black's hands for an own goal.
The Rams made it 2-0 in the 31st minute, as they took advantage of a penalty kick. Following a Bryant foul in the box, Fordham's John Pardini scored on the penalty kick to the right side of the net, his first of the season.
Fordham then scored their third goal of the half in the 42nd minute. Andreas Pafitis found Brett Heyder up the left side of the field on a through pass. Heyder then took a bending shot from 18 yards out, which found the top right corner of the net for his first goal of the season.
Bryant then broke up the shutout in the 58th minute, as they were awarded a penalty kick, following a Fordham foul. Manny Rodriguez then knocked the penalty kick in for his second goal of the season.
The Rams though would hold off the Bryant attack for a 3-1 win, as Ryan Meara and Jon Bratincevic combined for the win in net for the Rams.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Friday, October 10th, as they host Charlotte for their Atlantic 10 opener, beginning at 7:00 PM.
