In their second match-up against a Big East opponent this week, the Fordham volleyball team came up short against the Villanova Wildcats, falling in three sets, at Nevin Fieldhouse in Villanova, Pa. Final set scores were 25-18, 25-13, and 25-19.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 10-9 overall, while Villanova moves to 10-7.
The Rams' offense had a rough time against the Wildcats, hitting .059 for the match as a team, while only one player had a hitting percentage above .250. The Wildcats also had a total of eight team blocks against Fordham.
Villanova also had a good day in the service game, posting 11 service aces in the match, while offensively hitting .258 as a team.
For Fordham, Katherine Burrell posted five kills, 18 assists, and nine digs, while Katie Wells had four kills and four blocks. Kailee May had a team-high six kills to go with five digs and three aces with Sara Friede adding five kills and 11 digs.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Friday, October 10th, as they host the Duquesne Dukes for an Atlantic 10 match-up at the Rose Hill Gym, beginning at 7:00 PM.
